Home Programs
“With quality procedures and a positive environment, all children have the potential and capability to learn”
Home Program Basics

Implementing a home program has many benefits.  All young children learn early skills in their home.  Your child will
have the opportunity to learn in their natural environment and you will have the opportunity to observe teaching methods
on a regular basis.  There is also the added convenience of having therapists come to you.  Since sessions are positive
and fun, children come to have positive relationships with their therapists and look forward to and enjoy therapy
sessions.

Sessions are typically offered in 2 hour blocks during morning times,
early afternoon times, and late afternoon.  Sessions resemble
structured play time where social activities, toys, and other preferred
items are used to reinforce learning goals.  Goals are learned and
generalized through structured play and age appropriate activities.  A
schedule will be made to meet the needs of the family and based on
the availability of the behavior analyst and therapists.
The behavior analyst is in charge of writing individualized programs, making decisions, updating programs, and
supervising the home program and other ABA therapists.  The behavior analyst will have scheduled ABA sessions
with your child to consult (rather than observing other sessions or using video tape).  This allows the behavior analyst
to build a relationship with your child and get to know them on a one to one basis to make the best decisions regarding
the ABA program.  It is recommended that the behavior analyst have a minimum of 1 session per week to allow the
opportunity to get to know your child, be there regularly to make decisions and updates, and give your child the
opportunity to make the quickest progress possible.  Some families choose to have the consultant scheduled more
often, some choose less.  Other therapy hours are filled in by trained ABA therapists.

ABA Learning Solutions has trained ABA therapists that are familiar working under the behavior analyst.  Some
families also choose to hire their own therapists as well to be trained by the behavior analyst.
ABA Learning Solutions Program

ABA Learning Solutions believes in incorporating goals
across all domains to have an inclusive program that targets
“the whole child”.  Programs are written as appropriate
across communication, language, play skills, social skills,
school readiness, academics, cognitive skills, self-
management, and theory of mind.  Home programs are also
ideal for targeting areas such as toileting, eating, hygiene (i.e.
anxiety of bathtub), and sleep issues.  ABA Learning
Solutions incorporates Relationship Development Intervention
(RDI) into ABA programs to target social interactions
beginning at the earliest stages.  RDI builds functional social
repertoires and teaches not only social skills, but the function
and enjoyment behind social skills.  ABA Learning Solutions
will work together with other service providers (i.e. speech,
OT, floor time providers) to create an environment for your
child that will have consistent goals.  Your child’s progress is
the most important thing and we understand that other service
providers may be essential to the best all around program for
your child.
Social Interaction
ABA Learning Solutions can provide play date sessions with
siblings or other peers.  The behavior analyst can also provide many
ideas for interactive activities within your family.  ABA Learning
Solutions will also recommend other service providers that can
provide quality social groups once your child has basic pre-requisite
skills in their repertoire.
Parent Education/Training

ABA Learning Solutions provides parent education and training as part of the ABA home program experience.  The
behavior analyst will provide individualized goals for parents to work on throughout the week.  Parents can choose
how they want to be involved in the program weather it is working on parent goals, working on incidental goals and
generalizing program goals, observing ABA sessions to learn teaching techniques, and/or video recording sessions to
learn skills they can immediately utilize with their child.  The behavior analyst can also provide separate parent
sessions (where the parents and the child are present) to teach parents “hands on” what they can do to interact with
their child in order to provide the most potential for learning, incorporate important goals, and provide activities that
will benefit the child and family interactions.  Research shows that with parent involvement, children can make more
progress in a shorter amount of time.  Many parents often feel that with parent training they are not only able to help
generalize skills quickly, but also increase quality relationship interactions with their child.
